Stake Land is an interesting movie. It takes place in the United States that has been swept by a vampiric epidemic. It follows this vampire slayer, Mister (Nick Damici) and this young boy, Martin (Conor Paolo) in a journey towards paradise.
My thoughts: This movie was very very interesting. The first thing that separates it from other vampire movies is that they act very much like zombies; which didn't really bother me. The movie, at first, reminded me a lot like Zombieland. It had this apocalyptic feel to it and it even had narration through out the movie. However, as the movie progressed it started to take it's own form. It was a slow start but it took off in a huge fashion. I fell in love with this movie. You can feel the desperation, sadness, and the anger all while keeping you on the edge of your seat. It really put me through a thrill ride.
The acting was great, Nick Damici put quiet a performance but the person that I think really brought this movie to the forefront was Conor Paolo. Conor Paolo's character brought such a pure innocence to the movie and bounced off great with Nick Damici's character.
There are a few negatives to this movie. You have the zombie-vampires, the movie feels a bit dragged out, and it doesn't help that a few questions are not answered by the end of the movie. However, overall it was a great movie. I recommend it.

ReplyDeleteI heard about this a few days ago.. In my opinion I think they're taking this whole "genre" for the lack of a better word, to the limit. I mean vampires, werewolves, and ZOMBIES? Followed.
